Final idea: step-by-step outline

  • Sequence starts with player running forward, armed with a rifle. We can see one other player running to the right of him. (Shot is taken from behind him)
  • Several shots of the two players running, from different angles whilst tracking.
  • Next, we see player  #2 get shot in the head. He dies and collapses, main character stops, waits- then we see the player who just died, runs into the frame and takes his dead bodies’ weapon.

Alternatively, main character keeps running, but looks at body, sees it disappear.  Later see him again (slowly glitches back into the “game”) - conveying that the player who died is back would be made obvious to the audience by giving him a defining characteristic, e.g. a pink helmet or some sort of unusual accessory. This informing the audience that it is in a game and not reality.

  • The two players now run to a piece of cover and try returning fire. Close up of rifle’s sights.
  • Go to other team’s POV. Shot from behind, and see player stand up and shoot- then got shot several times in the chest.
  • MC and player advance, jump over obstacle, and a grenade is thrown at them.

  • Grenade goes off, player is damaged but seems unaffected (facially) but MC is struggling for breath, in severe pain

  • Player is confused, asks if MC is lagging, “what’s wrong.”

  • Shot of MC on the floor, coughing violently- cut to real world gamer, vr on, on the floor, coughing up blood.

  • Shot of player in game, unmoving.

  • Shot of real gamer, on floor, blood on chest, blood oozing out of VR and his ears- in a pool of blood.
