Feedback on rough design (album artwork)
Today we received feedback on our rough digipak designs. (Mine is below)
The first feedback point my group gave me was that I needed to have our artist's whole face on the front cover. This was a valid piece of feedback as similar products have the artist as the main focus on the album cover. Additionally, my group felt that because we weren't using cherries in our music video, using them on the album would be random, and wouldn't have an appropriate link to the music video.
Another piece of valuable feedback I received was that because this was our artist's debut album, it would not make sense for her to write a fan-letter, as the purpose of the album would be to go get these said fans, as they currently do not exist. Additionally, the colour of the background for the letter didn't make stylistic sense, and didn't fit with the rest of the album. I agreed with this, and suggested perhaps we just used a milky white background.
My back cover received pretty positive feedback. My group liked the idea behind it and the way I had arranged the tracklist but suggested that I change the colour of the cherries, and number the tracks so people buying the album would know which song was which if they were playing it on a stereo.
Finally, the feedback on the CD section focused more on the fact that I had been over-exaggerating the link of our aritst with cherries, and that it didnt really make stylistic sense, as cherries arent planned to appear in our music video. My group felt that there were too many cherries and that it just looked out of place. I agreed with this feedback and could see that I needed the CD section to relate more to our video.
