Focus Group and Results

Feedback on the Music Video:
Feedback on the Music Video:
Overall the feedback on music video was positive and it is said to be similar to the other videos of the same genre. Here are the main points that were mentioned:
- Red and white as juxtaposition worked very well.
- The build-up for the first chorus seemed anti-climax for some of the members of the focus group.
- Opinion on the makeup was quite mixed: for some people it was confusing to see her without makeup and then with it, however other thought that it worked well as natural makeup suited the idea of her inside the sheets and glamorous when she is in dresses and in high heels.
- When we asked if they would want to see more of the particular element, they said that it would be nice to see more of dancers. Also, some people wanted to see more episodes of the artist with a guy. However, at the same time, they said it worked that we have not seen him and it leaves to the imagination of the viewer to decide who it was.
- The ending on the dancers was unexpected and confusing. This group expected the video to end with the artist herself.
Feedback on the Whole Music Campaign
I led (Andrew Jensen) the discussion about what the focus group thought of our overall music campaign. We received relatively positive feedback and got some very constructive criticism that will undoubtedly improve our final products.
Below are the questions I asked (Underlined) and responses underneath.
To what extent it is an effective campaign? If at all
They work well together, due to the colour schemes being so simple you can instantly see the connection between the two products, and work really well together to create a memorable product.
Are the genre conventions of pop met, if at all
The music video pop conventions were met, however the digipak was criticized for not being like existing pop genre digipaks. We were told that the album needed to be more ‘sexy,’ and if we did, it would then be more inline with similar female pop artists. Additionally they suggested we have more going on in the digipak.
Do you think there is a link between the album cover and music video
The focus group reported seeing a clear link between the two products due to effective use of simple colours; red and white. They enjoyed the use of colours and reported it being a positive point in the video.
What is the best element within the products if at all
The focus group said that what they thought was the best element within the two products was the colour juxtaposition within in the music video. In particular, they enjoyed it when the dress colour was different to the chaise-lounge and changed between red and white.
